Quick fixes for the most common issues.
A video won't open or play
- Check the format. The Player handles common formats such as
.mp4,.mov,
.mkv, and .avi. An unusual codec inside the file can still fail to play even if the extension is supported.
- Confirm the file isn't still copying. A file that's mid-transfer from a camera
or SD card may be incomplete. Wait for the copy to finish, then reopen.
- Try another file. If a different video plays fine, the problem is that
specific file rather than the Player.
A favorite or recent file says it's missing
Favorites and recent files point at a location on your computer. If you moved, renamed, or deleted the video — or it lived on a drive or SD card that's no longer connected — the Player can't open it. Reconnect the drive, or remove the stale entry and add the video again from its new location. See Favorites.
My markers or notes didn't carry over
Markers, chapters, and the video description are saved in a small .lapi file next to the video. If you copied the video to another folder or computer without its .lapi, that work won't appear. Always move the .lapi together with its video. See Opening Videos.
Double-clicking a video doesn't open the Player
Set the Player as your default app for that file type. Choose Help → Set as Default Player… for instructions, or use Windows Settings → Apps → Default apps.
A feature is greyed out or missing
Compare, sync, data import, and Session Notes require signing in with a LapInsight account. If they're unavailable, sign in via Account → Sign in with LapInsight…. See Signing In.
Sign-in or account problems
- Make sure you're connected to the internet the first time you sign in.
- Use Account → Manage account on lapinsight.com to check your account in a
browser.
- After signing in once, the Player keeps your features available offline, so you
don't need a connection at the track.
