What we collect, why, and what you can do about it. If something isn’t covered here, email us at support@lapinsight.com.

The short version

We’re LapInsight, a tool for analyzing racing and motorsport video. You upload videos, write notes, drop markers, and share clips with the people you choose. This page explains what we collect and what you can do about it.

A few things up front, because they matter. We don’t sell your personal data. We don’t use your videos or notes to train AI or to target ads. And we’ll be straight about one thing a lot of services gloss over: LapInsight is not end-to-end encrypted, so we are technically able to access the content you store with us in order to run the service. We protect that access carefully, but we won’t pretend it doesn’t exist. There’s more on this below and on our Security page.

Who we are

LapInsight is operated by Focus Racing Pte Ltd, a company registered in Singapore (UEN 202033464K). For the purposes of data protection law, Focus Racing Pte Ltd is the controller of the personal data described here.

You can reach us about anything in this policy at support@lapinsight.com, or by post at 192 Waterloo Street, #07-09, Singapore 187966.

What we collect

Information you give us directly

  • Account details: your email address and password. Passwords are never stored in a readable form. We keep only a one-way hash.
  • If you turn on two-factor authentication, the secret used to verify your codes. We store this with an extra layer of encryption on top.
  • Your content: the videos you upload, plus the notes, markers, lap and session data, and reports you create. This is the heart of the service.
  • Anything you send us, for example a support email.

Information we collect as you use the service

  • Basic technical and log data needed to run and secure the service, such as your IP address, browser type, and timestamps of requests. We use this to keep accounts secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
  • Records of certain actions on your data, such as when something is deleted or a share link is revoked. We keep these as an audit trail. See How long we keep things below.

Information from share links

When someone opens a video or report you’ve shared, we process the minimum needed to serve that link, such as the recipient’s email if you used a restricted link that requires them to verify who they are.

Payments

If you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment is handled by a third-party payment processor. We don’t see or store your full card number. We keep a record of your subscription tier and status so we know what your account is entitled to.

Why we use it

We use your information to run your account and the core service, to process and serve your content (playback, sharing, search, and cleaning notes of anything harmful), to keep the service secure and prevent abuse, to handle payments and subscriptions, to respond to support and legal requests, and to send you service messages about your own account.

Where the law frames this in terms of a legal basis: most of it is necessary to perform our contract with you, some rests on our legitimate interest in running a secure and reliable service, and a little (such as keeping billing and tax records) is a legal obligation.

We only use your content to provide the service to you. We do not use it to train AI models, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your personal data, and we don’t share it for anyone else’s marketing.

We do rely on a small number of trusted infrastructure providers to run LapInsight, for things like hosting, video delivery, file storage, our database, payment processing, and sending email. These providers process data on our behalf, under contract, and only to help us deliver the service. They are established companies that hold recognized security certifications.

Product analytics. To understand how the product is used and to improve it — which features people reach, where sign-up gets stuck, what breaks — we use a product-analytics provider that acts as a processor on our behalf. This is first-party, privacy-preserving analytics: we do not use it for advertising, we do not let it follow you across other websites, and we instruct it to discard your IP address and skip location lookup. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running and improving a reliable service. This analytics data is hosted in the European Union. If you delete your account, we ask this provider to delete the analytics profile associated with you.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public. If that ever happens, we’ll limit it to what’s actually required.

International transfers

We use established cloud infrastructure, and your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where data protection law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for those transfers.

How long we keep things

We keep your content for as long as your account is active. You can delete your own videos, notes, and other content at any time, and you can set individual videos to auto-delete after a period you choose.

If you cancel or stop paying, your content isn’t deleted the moment your subscription ends. Active share links are paused right away, but your data is retained on a grace schedule that depends on the type of data, so you can pick up where you left off if you come back. As a guide: videos are kept for about 30 days, reports and note images for about 180 days, and notes, markers, and lap data — which cost us little to store and are the most useful to have back — for about 365 days. Reactivating within a window restores that data and cancels the pending deletion. If you’d like your data removed sooner, just ask us.

We keep a limited audit record of significant actions on your data, for example deletions and link revocations, even after the data itself is gone. This record exists so we can answer questions like “was this really deleted,” including from a regulator, and it doesn’t contain the content itself.

Some records we’re legally required to keep, such as basic billing and tax records, are retained for as long as the law requires, in a stripped-down form.

Your rights and how to use them

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data. These generally include the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
  • Correctinformation that’s wrong. You can edit most of this yourself in the app.
  • Delete your account and the personal data we hold about you.
  • Object to or restrict certain uses, and to export a copy of your data.

To exercise any of these, email us at support@lapinsight.com. Today, access, export, and correction requests are handled by our team rather than through a self-serve button, so please give us a reasonable window to put your data together. When you ask us to delete your account, we complete the deletion within 30 days (usually much sooner), confirm by email when it’s done, and keep only the stripped-down records described below. We’ll respond to every request within the time the law requires.

If you’re in the EU or UK and you think we’ve handled your data wrongly, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We’d appreciate the chance to sort it out first.

Security

The short version: encrypted in transit and at rest, strict separation between accounts so your data isn’t reachable by other users, signed and expiring links for shared video, and extra encryption for the most sensitive secrets. We don’t claim to be something we’re not. Because we have to process your content to run the service, we can technically access it, and we protect that rather than pretend it’s impossible.

We’ve put the full, plain-language explanation on a dedicated page rather than repeat it here. Please read Security.

Cookies

We keep cookies simple. We use them for things that make the service work, like keeping you signed in and remembering a device you’ve chosen to trust. We don’t use advertising cookies, and we don’t use cross-site or third-party ad-tracking cookies to follow you around the web. The one piece of measurement we do run is the first-party product analytics described under “Who we share it with” — it doesn’t track you across other sites, and outside the EU it may set a first-party cookie so we can recognize a returning visit. Because the cookies we set are necessary to run the service or to measure our own product, there isn’t much to configure, but you can always clear them in your browser.

Children

LapInsight isn’t directed at children, and it’s not intended for anyone under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this policy as the service grows or the law changes. When we make a meaningful change, we’ll update the date at the top and, where it matters, let you know more directly. Continuing to use LapInsight after a change means you accept the updated policy.
