This walkthrough takes you from a fresh install to having a session ready to use.
Step 1 — Open a Day
- Open Session Explorer (click the search icon in the sidebar, or press Ctrl+1).
- Click Start Day in the toolbar, or go to Sessions → Start Day.
- Fill in the Start Day dialog:
- Track — type to search or select the track. - Date — defaults to today. - Event name — optional (e.g. "Club Day", "Test Day"). - Driver(s) — add the drivers participating.
- Click Start. The day opens and becomes the active context.
Tip: You can open multiple days and switch between them using Ctrl+Tab. See Switching Days.
Step 2 — Add a Session
- With a day open, click Start Session or go to Sessions → Start Session.
- Give the session a name (e.g. "Practice 1", "Qualifying") and set the start time.
- Click OK. The session appears in the session list.
Step 3 — Write a Note
- Switch to Session Notes (sidebar or Ctrl+2).
- Click in the notes area and start typing.
- To insert a timestamp linked to a video, click the clock icon or press Ctrl+T while video is playing.
Step 4 — Import Video
- Open the Video List dock (View → Video List).
- Drag one or more video files onto the panel.
- LapInsight renames and links them to the active session.

Step 5 — Review in Review Mode
- Switch to Review Mode (sidebar or Ctrl+3).
- Double-click a video in the Video List to load it.
- Play the video and use the timeline to add lap markers and notes.
